The project to upgrade and renovate National Highway 1 section Hanoi - Bac Giang has its starting point at the itinerary: Km113+985 - Old National Highway 1A (National Highway 31 junction) located in Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province. The end point is at the itinerary Km159+100 - National Highway 1A (old Phu Dong toll station) located in Hanoi. The total length of the route is 45.8 km.

The design scale is 4 lanes with a permissible speed of 100km/h, which can be upgraded to 6 lanes in the future. This is one of the first expressway projects in Vietnam invested in the form of BOT.
